Christmas get together and spud in a bucket competition

Villagers and friends and families got together in St Peter’s on Sunday 18th December for an early Christmas celebration with drinks, homemade snacks and cakes – including, of course, mince pies and mulled wine.
The event raised £226 for the Hope for Tomorrow charity. Most of the money was raised by Sylvie’s excellent raffle and Sylvie sends an extra thank you to all who contributed to the this as the charity was her nomination for this event.
Much amusement and a little excitement was enjoyed by the potato growing competition weigh in. Those who took part had to grow one potato plant in a standard bucket and the fruits – or should that be tubers? – of their labours were weighed by Rachel and Trevor.
Those mounting the podium when the results were announced were Barbara in third place, Trevor in second and Graham and Pat taking imaginary gold. Full results are shown below. Thanks to all who took part.
